The candidates for Lady of the Lake 2017 and First and Second Princess have all stepped forward and are now preparing for their first appearances in the Cowichan Lake area. It’s always an exciting time for the girls, acquiring new, useful skills, learning how to present themselves, making new friends, and having fun. The Lady of the Lake crowning is in June during the community’s Lake Days celebrations, and always draws a big crowd to see who will rise to the top through the many different events the young women take on. From left: Brooklyn Kruk - Copper Lane, Brianna Mahoney - Country Grocer, Mariah Smith - IDA Pharmacy, Randi Robertson - B.P.O. Elks, Desiree Karlsen - Lake Cowichan Lions, Mackenzie Peters - Lake Cowichan Kin, Kali Mullin- A&W, Olivia Darwin - Royal Canadian Legion, and Shalyn Jones - Island Savings Credit Union.
