VIDEO: Wine and Art Festival offers great holiday weekend fun

A host of Cowichan Valley wineries, artists, and entertainers are offering a long weekend festival.

Featuring eight wineries, one cidery, and 30 artists and musical acts Cowichan Valley Wine and Arts Festival 2017 has a lot to offer you and your friends.

Scheduled as it is for May 20-21, this free-entry event will give everyone a great chance to show off the Cowichan Valley to visitors and family alike, with acts to include Ed Peekeekoot, Huckleberry Holler, Eileen McGann, Christy Vanden, David K., TL Douglas, Laurel Collins, and more.

Each winery will host a painter, potter, jewelry designer, or other artist or artisan, as well as live music both days of the tour.

In collaboration with the wineries, the event is sponsored by the Cowichan South Arts Guild Society: a new South End council representing Cobble Hill, Shawnigan Lake, and Mill Bay.

“You’ll be able to travel from place to place to take in a lot of terrific art by South End artists and a wealth of sipping,” says Arts Guild Society president Terry Harrison.

Averill Creek Winery will feature artist/musician Eileen McGann, Blue Grouse Winery is hosting artists Trisha Klus and Elaine Thibault, and musicians Ed Peekeekoot, Christy Vanden, and Genevieve Charbonneau &Friends.

Over on the other side of the Trans Canada Highway, Cherry Point Winery is welcoming artists, Charlotte Haggart and Donna Birtwistle, along with Masimba Marimba, TL Douglas, Peekeekoot, Collins and Vanden throughout the day. Damali Lavender &Winery’s artist is Sierra Acton and entertainment will be by Huckleberry Holler and the John Robertson Duo.

At Enrico Winery, it’s Douglas and Vanden providing the entertainment with Jeanne Aten and Bev Robertson, the artists.

Merridale Cidery, Distiller &Bistro is hosting Karen Botcher, with music by the John Robertson Trio plus Bill Davies, and Rocky Creek Winery’s artist is Karen Bottcher, with entertainment by David K.

At Unsworth Winery, Terry Harrison and Bobbie Swinney will show off their artistic talent, with Joley Baker, and Nina Brown &Friends as musicians. Vigneti Zanatta’s artist will be Roger Jackson and their musicians, Genevieve Charbonneau &Friends, and Masima Marimba.
