VIDEO: Lunch at Allen’s: four pros make it look easy

Murray McLauchlan, Cindy Church, Marc Jordan, and Ian Thomas on stage together in Lunch at Allen’s

The impressive supergroup Lunch at Allen’s arrives at the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre on June 22, starting at 7:30 p.m.

And, they’re bringing music from their shiny new studio album, launching June 16. You might even make If It Feels Right the soundtrack for your own summer.

Featuring chart-topping musical veterans Murray McLauchlan, Cindy Church, Marc Jordan and Ian Thomas — who can claim a staggering 25,000,000 units as both solo artists and songwriters for stars like Chicago, Josh Groban, Bonnie Raitt, America, Santana, Cher and Rod Stewart — Lunch At Allen’s is special.

And If It Feels Right shows it.

You’ll hear everything from plaintive balladry (Jordan’s ‘Nothing Comes from Nothing’) to campfire-ready folk (McLauchlan’s ‘If The Wind Could Blow My Troubles Away’) to sweetly nimble pop (Church’s ‘Little Bird’) to the insistent, clap-along groove of the title track (courtesy of Thomas).

This group is all about four total professionals making it look easy, but don’t be fooled.

They’re quality right through, as you’ll hear if you check out the video for ‘When There Were Six Teams in the NHL”.

They’re kicking off a cross-Canada tour on Vancouver Island so they’ll be fresh and raring to go when we see them here.

Thomas shared his thoughts about the group in a recent interview with the Nanaimo News Bulletin.

“’It really doesn’t become more joyous than just performing and grinning with your friends,” he told the paper. “These guys are like family to me.

“Lunch at Allen’s projects are usually just a joy because we surrender to what Lunch at Allen’s is,” he said. “It really is a great joy. It’s been kind of a labour of love, our latest album.

“We are four different voices, four very different artists, which is why when it all comes together it has a magic.”

Tickets to the show are $45 each. Get them at cowichanpac.ca or call the Cowichan Ticket Centre at 250-748-7529.
