Not enough people know what Cowichan Lake Community Services has to offer.

Combatting this problem, a group of volunteers descended upon Cowichan Lake, distributing baskets of information to 12 different businesses and community buildings, last week.

“We are doing a community blitz, for bringing to attention the services that are available,” Community Services board member Terry Peters said.

Peters was handing out baskets of information, including one to the Gazette office, where people can still pick up pamphlets.

In addition to displaying information about Community Services, the baskets include information on the Health Link BC ‘Call 811’ service.

“You can speak to a nurse, pharmacist, a dietician, and other health-related services,” Peters said.

Community Services’ list of services includes employment resource, meals on wheels, Youbou transit connector, Red Cross loan service, office services, community mini-bus, counselling, and many others.

The pamphlets will be available for pickup until the end of October.

Community Services can be contacted at 250-749-6822.
